Assignment: Find three new compositions within one of the scanned works. Present new works alongside old one. Critiques Describe the image in detail: The original image was simply me squashing my face up against a scanner. My hair has the advantage of being dyed blond and black so its easy to see all the different bits (which have also rather fortunately fallen all swoopy and artistic-like.) In the first crop I decided to focous on the unique texture and colour that was captured in my hair. I flipped the image to put the lighter layer at the top so there is a small touch of gravitational sense. THis crop might look a bit better if it was ,ore rectangular in shape. The second crop was the most obvious. I had been breathing heavily on the glass of the scanner to try and get a foggy smudge, and i think that's what that grainy mark next to my mouth is. I loved the grotesque detail you got by pressing your skin firmly against the scanner and i think lips work well for this as they are full of little cracks and creases, surrounded by porous skin ( not to mention they look fuller when flattened out against the surface of a scanner:)
